JOB DESCRIPTIONS

 

Title: Senior Marketing Manager

 

Department: Sales & Marketing

Reports to: Director of R&D and Business Development

 

Position Summary

Provides marketing leadership to develop the National Flavors’ brand strategy.  Will help to create and lead the development of long- and short-term strategies and marketing plans to assist in achieving corporate objectives.  Responsible for research of market conditions in local, regional, or national areas, or gather information to determine potential sales of a product or create a marketing campaign.  Gather information on competitors, prices, sales and methods of marketing and distribution.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for all outbound company communications affecting brand strategy.
  • Provide sales support as needed through creation, delivery, and optimization of marketing materials, such as brochures, sell sheets, email campaigns, and internal and external newsletters.  Maintains appropriate inventory levels of all printed materials.
  • Responsible for marketing budget.
  • Supervise social media outreach and web content.
  • Measure and assess customer and employee satisfaction.
  • Devise and evaluate methods and procedures for collecting data, such as voice of customer surveys, opinion polls, or questionnaires, or arrange to obtain existing data.
  • Collect and analyze data on customer demographics, preferences, needs, and buying habits to identify potential markets and factors affecting product demand.
  • Gather data on competitors and analyze their prices, sales, and method of marketing and distribution.
  • Prepare reports of findings, illustrating data graphically and translating complex findings into written text.
  • Seek and provide information to help National Flavors determine their position in the marketplace.
  • Monitor industry statistics and follow trends in trade literature.
  • Measure the effectiveness of marketing, advertising, and communications programs and strategies.
  • Forecast and track marketing and sales trends, analyzing collected data.
  • Attend staff conferences to provide management with information and proposals concerning the promotion, distribution, design, and pricing of company products or services.
  • Conduct research on consumer opinions and marketing strategies, collaborating with marketing professionals, statisticians, pollsters, and other professionals.
  • Provide R&D Department market trend data in a timely manner to ensure product development is data driven.
  • Coordinates all facets of successful tradeshow deployment. Makes recommendations for participation based upon market strategy, books/prepares and updates all marketing tools (literature, booth, professional imaging, messaging, etc.) for approved shows in a timely manner.  Prepares kick-off for marketing roll-out plan and talking points for all staff working tradeshow booth.
  • Develop and implement procedures for identifying advertising needs

 

Minimum requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Work Experience: 5+ years’ experience in a marketing role

Industry Knowledge: Experience in direct marketing, market segmentation, marketing research, project management, reporting research results, process improvement, and financial skills preferred.

Title: Quality Control Technician I

 

Department: Quality

Reports to: Quality Control Supervisor/Regulatory

 

Position Summary

Ensures that raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products meet specified standards and regulatory requirements.  Responsible for all activities involving quality control and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements; Reviews/analyzes data and documentation on raw materials and finished products.  Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within a quality assurance/control field.  Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  Performs a variety of tasks.  Works under general supervision.  A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform laboratory analytical testing, data entry, and reporting.
  • Perform organoleptic testing of raw materials and finished products.
  • Provides oversight of raw material certificates of analysis, all associated quality paperwork and QC approval of the raw material.
  • Updates finished products prior to production use following regulatory requirements
  • Assure correct product labeling and lot coding.
  • Troubleshoot basic ingredient issues such as storage, handling, and undesired reactions within raw materials and finished products.
  • Paneling and testing throughout the facility to help manage raw material changes, formula improvements, adjustments
  • Upkeep and increase efficiency on sensitive laboratory equipment

 

 

Non-Essential Job Functions

  • Occasional compounding of products to compare against samples and troubleshoot quality concerns.
  • Manage supply stock levels.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitized and organized lab area and all equipment that is used.
  • Manage retain samples and maintain an organized system:  preparing for daily batch comparisons, filing new retain samples daily, and disposing of expired samples.

 

 

Minimum requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.  Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Chemistry, Biology or Food Science is preferred.

Work Experience: Requires 2-5 years of experience in quality control/assurance or in a related area.  Basic lab testing experience is preferred.  GC experience is a plus.

Industry Knowledge: Quality Control/Assurance in a food manufacturing environment helpful, but not required.

Title: Applications Scientist

 

Department: Research & Development

Reports to: Director of R&D/Business Development

 

Position Summary

Supports the flavor creations team by screening flavors and developing appropriate medium for the applications of flavor as well as other routine laboratory tasks.  Supports the sales team by preparing appropriate demo samples.  Also responsible for conforming to required regulations around safety, quality and good laboratory practices.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Tests flavor formulations in a wide variety of applications.  This may include dairy, bakery and beverage type products.
  • Develops prototypes to evaluate flavor profile and performance.
  • Screens flavors in appropriate medium based on project objectives.
  • Serves as a technical liaison with operations on apps-related products (ie: cooked products and bases).
  • Prepares product demonstrations for sales calls, tradeshows and other industry events.
  • Selects appropriate products for customer projects based on desired flavor profile, regulatory requirements and target costs.
  • Applies food science and culinary knowledge in the development of prototypes.
  • Operates various lab instruments and equipment to produce prototypes for screening and demos.
  • Actively maintain flavor performance data for the flavor portfolio.
  • Follows safety, quality and GMP policies.
  • Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team members.
  • Forward facing professionalism, solid customer centric skill-sets.  Able to meet with current and potential customers to vet
  • Ensures clean and tidy work space
  • 10-20% Travel to trade shows and/or customer visits

 

Non-Essential Job Functions

  • Performs other duties as assigned depending on needs of the business.

Minimum requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or other applied science.

Work Experience: 2-5 years of experience in a laboratory environment preferred. Prior flavor compounding experience is highly desired.

Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of food industry, ingredient requirements, principles of food science and good laboratory practices preferred.

 

Soft skills:

  • Must be able to lift up to 45 lb on regular basis
